Amentum Nuclear Consulting Engineer in Aiken, South Carolina

Purpose and Scope:

The Consulting Engineer is responsible for providing engineering guidance, calculations, analysis, studies and recommendations for a specialized segment of engineering within schedule and budget of an assigned project. Additional responsibilities may be assigned according to the needs of the company, project, or contract.

Essential Responsibilities:

Prepares, reviews and approves drawings as required.

Prepares and presents expert testimony before regulatory bodies and courts.

Prepares and makes presentations to client and company management.

Assists with interpreting codes and permitting as it relates to a specific discipline.

Ensures quality, quantity, and completeness of the assigned engineering tasks.

Advanced level of specialized engineering knowledge within a specific discipline and has basic understanding of other disciplines.

Fully versed in business development concepts and methods and supports the project proposal process.

Fully versed with the process of preparing and checking calculations as well as the approval, revision, retention, and storage of calculations within a specific discipline

.Fully versed in the collection and/or evaluation of data and information regarding technical and economic factors including physical, chemical, environmental, maintenance, operational, regulatory, constructability, and/or schedule factors relating to a specific subject within a discipline.

Reviews and advises on purchase orders and subcontracts.

Assists with the development of manpower, man-hour and labor cost requirements to aid in evaluating the budget.

Leads estimating tasks and performs material take off's for a specific discipline.

Fully understands the planning and scheduling of engineering tasks.Understands the project change control process and identifies potential changes.

Fully versed with and can check the work sequence, general content and the methods used to generate specifications for the purchase of material, equipment, systems, services or construction within a specific discipline.

Can integrate all project functional requirements into a complete project plan.

Builds productive relationships with organizations within and external to Engineering.

Perform all other position related duties as assigned or requested.

Minimum Position Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

Bachelor of Science degree (or equivalent education) in an appropriate engineering discipline or the sciences from a four-year accredited college or university.

15+ years of professional experience in a discipline or specialty.

Experience with nuclear engineering in field and design work.

Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational, and analytical skills.

Position requires the ability to obtain maintain a Security Clearance.

Travel may be required.

Due to the nature of work, candidate must be a US Citizen.

Preferred Requirements

Master of Science or Doctorate in specialty of discipline preferred.

Professional Engineering License preferred.

Experience with DOE

DOE Q clearance
