POSITION SUMMARY

Timber Products' TP Trucking & Logistics division in Augusta, GA is looking for an experienced, self-motivated individual to join its Dispatch team. Our Dispatch role is responsible for maintaining the existing customer base to coordinate the transport of assigned shipments, generating new customers, lanes and shipments for company and brokerage trucks to support the Company in meeting its production and revenue goals.

MAJOR TASKS

  • Maintains existing carrier base of Company Drivers and Owner Operators.

  • Dispatches trucks and monitors customer load status. Enters load data into the computer for dispatch information and manages customer TMS.

  • Coordinates with customers on booking daily and weekly shipments. Tracks loads from pickup to delivery.

  • Maintains communication link between customer, driver, and Dispatch staff. Assists with coordinating the resolution of transit problems.

  • Acts as backup to Company sales staff when they are out of the office.

  • Assists sales staff retrieving and implementing rates in specific traffic lanes. Quotes competitive rates to maintain rate structures that maximize freight and customer reliance.

  • Maintains and ensures adherence to all state, federal, and local regulatory agencies.

  • Responsible for supporting company policies, procedures, and safety program.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

    SKILL REQUIREMENTS

  • A minimum of 3-5 years transportation or traffic experience; preferably a sales, dispatch or operational background.

  • Customer service experience is an asset.

  • Must have strong communication skills, both verbal and written, and be able to communicate well with all levels of personnel, drivers, and management.

  • Must have an outstanding work ethic and a teamwork/positive attitude.

  • Detail orientated, strong organizational skills and proactive.

  • Excellent computer skills, proficient in Microsoft Word, Office, Excel and Outlook, and the ability to learn and use company specific software.
