The Staff Accountant is responsible for preparing monthly and year-end closings, journal entries, fixed asset maintenance, bank reconciliation, and general ledger reconciliation. A great deal of time in this position will be spent producing Financial Statements, Cash Flow projections, and Budgets. During the monthly close, you will be responsible for many aspects of internal reporting. You'll also be reviewing schedules for the reporting processes, communicating with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits, and playing an active role in compliance.
Key responsibilities
Perform month end close, journal entries with minimum supervision
Assist in implementation, maintenance and adherence to internal controls and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP
Analyze and coordinate a variety of financial data, and report it in a useful and understandable manner
Assist in the month end, quarter end and year end closing process including monthly financial close workbook preparation
Manage the design and creation of balance sheet analysis and communicate reports to management
Maintain capital lease and monthly payment schedules
Maintain fixed asset ledger, depreciation, and reconciliation
Produce complex journal entries and account reconciliations including but not limited to cash, prepaid expenses and payroll
Ad-hoc tasks and special projects, as needed
Participate in various department-wide initiatives Requirements - Strong organizational, written and verbal communication skills
Competent with spreadsheets and databases
Ability to meet deadlines
Detailed and have the ability work independently
Strong analytical skills, accuracy and attention to detail
Working knowledge of spreadsheets and databases
BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics
Recent and relevant accounting experience
Ability to work in a dynamic and changing environment
ERP system experience
Self-starter, ability to identify issues and resolve problems
Balance Sheet Reconciliation experience preferred
Proficiency in bank reconciliations
Journal entries experience highly desired
Proven knowledge of Microsoft Excel
General ledger experience
Well-founded grasp of month end closings
Solid understanding of account reconciliation
