Blue Bell Creameries is seeking anElectrical Engineerfor theBrenham, TXmanufacturing plant.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Provide direct technical support for the various manufacturing systems of the factory. Responsible for maintaining the hardware and software process control systems including associated instrumentation. Issue, maintain, and update related documentation to be following change control documents. Project management responsibilities include direct responsibility and oversight for: administering upgrades, modifications, and new installations to maintain and increase operational efficiency of the plant processes and utilities.

HOURS:7am - 5pm, 9-hour shift, 1-hour lunch, 45-hour work week

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Project Management:

• Conduct estimation, planning and execution of maintenance and investment projects
• Develop: project parameters, timelines, resource requirements, and costing
• Implement hands on approach to project management with electrical aptitude
• Duties are performed in a diverse and fast-paced manufacturing facility environment
• Candidate must be highly-motivated and have a self-starter mentality

Technical Design Functions:

• Mentor Electrical team to increase their process knowledge and support career growth
• Electrical design either or both ACAD and E-tap

o Distribution circuit design and system infrastructure

o Including but not limited to design and installation of, Panels, MCCs, Main switch boards

o Good understanding the hows and whys in building a transformer bank from medium to lower voltage (typical 480/277V)

• Coordination of circuit(s) by following NEC, NFPA 72E guidelines and the use of E-tap

a) Understanding/maintaining up to date one line diagrams

b) Understanding all components in a circuit, such as a panel, breaker type and kA, wire type and use by locations.

Coordination studies and mitigation of a circuit to determine Arc-flash and PPE levels

• Produce a label for each individual piece of equipment to clearly indicate;

a) Calorie level

b) Working boundaries

c) Arc-flash PPE type

d) Shock protection PPE type

• UL control panel design and construction, by UL 508 standards
• Emergency generator branch support

o During a storm a branch occasionally may lose power

o In house generator is taken to location

o Electrical crew in charge of hooking up generator and conveying instructions on how to operate

o Typical generator connection via transfer switch

• Familiar with PLCs, HMIs, Drives (VFDs), Soft Starts, Control wiring
• Learn and Lead our Electrical Safety program (for electrical safety requirements)
• Effective communication skills at different levels and attention to detail

o Able to address a small group of people

o Monthly continuous education with Electrical Safety (classroom setting or internet)

o Ability to communicate with local and state power providers

• Participation in companywide Electrical equipment installation and installation standards such:

o Electrical distribution equipment types and brand type: Switch Gear, MCCs, Soft Starts, Drives, Disconnects

o Define type of conduit to be used by area type: (EMT, Rigid, IMC, SS) and by wire type (wet, cold, hot, shielded)

SKILLS:

• Above average communication and project management skills (written and oral)
• Problem-solving skills
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office Products
• Working knowledge of industrial electricity 480 VAC (3 phase) control systems, and MCCs
• Assist production and maintenance with equipment and process issues
• Follow enforce existing construction, manufacturing and installation standards established by NEC, NFPA 72E
• Comfortable understanding of 480/277V, 240/208/120 Delta-Delta, Delta-Wye systems
• Application of Induction, Servo and Synchronous motors (fraction HP - 600HP)
