BRENHAM - CITY OF Part Time Destination Experience Specialist in Brenham, Texas

Summary

Provides an outstanding welcome and excellent customer service for all those arriving at the Visitor Center, including providing information on existing Brenham and Washington County tourism partners and assists in collection and distribution of data related to local programming and events.

Must be willing to work mid-day and weekends as needed and have a hands-on work ethic.

Essential Duties and Responsibilitiesinclude the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Provides an outstanding welcome and excellent service for all visitors to better understand their needs and provide a wide range of information to assure a quality experience in Brenham and Washington County;
  • Ensures an overall attractive and clean Visitor Center lobby, hallway, conference room, and restrooms. Keeps track of inventory in the Visitor Center and restocks brochures;
  • Answers phones, greets walk-in visitors, and fulfills information request by callers and visitors to the Visitor Center, utilizing excellent communication skills and providing enthusiastic customer service, as well as accurately recording the number of phone calls and visitors each day;
  • Constantly maintains and updates personal knowledge of existing Brenham/Washington County events and tourism partners (restaurants, retail, attractions, hotels, etc.) to provide accurate and current information to visitors;
  • Collects information on upcoming events and performances for weekly What's Happening Flyers, Washington County Live Program, and Visit Brenham Event Calendar;
  • Assists Partner and Visitor Experience Manager in servicing out of town guests and groups by producing name badges and welcome bags, copying/folding brochures, and flyers, and working meetings and conferences that may be held at The Barnhill Center;
  • Maintains knowledge of the POS System to correctly handle transactions at the Visitor Center;
  • Assists with the distribution and mailing of the Visitor Guides;
  • May be required to provide visitor information to visitors and residents at various locations (Blue Bell, Festivals/Events, mobile visitor center, etc.);
  • Assists with Barnhill Center events;
  • Communicates effectively with Partner and Visitor Experience Manager;
  • Employees are required to comply with supervisory instructions to perform other job duties and assist other staff as needed.

Knowledge Of

Must have comprehensive knowledge of Brenham and Washington County to provide directions. Excellent courteous and professional people skills, organizational skills, attention to detail, and standard office practices and procedures.General management principles; computers; budgeting, purchasing, and accounting principles and procedures;City code of ordinances and policies in specific areas of assignment.

Skills/Ability

Communicate effectively both orally and in writing, ability to problem solve, plan, and organize, basic knowledge and skills in office equipment such as computer, fax, and copier, familiar with basic Microsoft programs such as CRM, Microsoft Teams, ticketing software, Excel, and Outlook, handle multiple tasks and prioritizing projects.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Valid Texas driver's license.
