Job Description

The Materials Handler fulfills the receiving, storing, dispersing, and delivering of finished goods and raw materials in the facility. In a safe and effective manner, this individual may process orders for domestic and export shipments, perform total receiving functions for incoming goods and miscellaneous items, or store and pull material needed for production work orders.

  • Prepare load manifest of contents and weight and obtain receipts for deliveries.
  • Measure, count, or weigh materials requested and deliver as required.
  • Receive incoming shipments and verify contents to records.
  • Deliver or direct delivery to appropriate area.
  • Post stock issues and credits to maintain perpetual inventory.
  • Operate company vehicles, including forklifts, for pick-up and deliveries of materials.
  • Reach (up to 100% of the time), stand (up to 95% of the time), walk (up to 75% of the time), lift (up to 75% of the time), bend (up to 75% of the time), push/pull (up to 75% of the time), grasp (up to 75% of the time), squat (up to 40% of the time), stoop (up to 10% of the time), twist (up to 10% of the time), kneel (up to 10% of the time), and crouch (up to 10% of the time).
  • Lift/carry materials weighing up to 35 pounds (up to 100% of the time) and materials weighing up to 50 pounds (up to 33% of the time).
  • Perform activities associated with the handling of hazardous materials and waste, including, but not limited to, container labeling, familiarization with emergency procedures, and completion of initial/annual hazardous waste training, including DOT hazardous materials handling awareness training.
  • Participate in Lean Manufacturing and High Performance Team Initiatives.
  • All other duties as assigned by Manager

Knowledge and experience in the following functions: component issue, receiving, and shipping

  • Ability to read, understand, and follow written and/or verbal procedures, processes, and instructions.
  • Understanding of the intricacies and mechanics involved in the manufacturing process.
  • Demonstrated computer literacy, including a working knowledge of SAP software.
  • Ability to work independent of direct supervision.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment with management and coworkers.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with management and coworkers.
  • Ability to complete the job without direct threat or significant risk to the health and safety of self or others.
  • Demonstrated effort toward self-improvement by gaining new knowledge/skills and accepting new assignments.
  • Material handling (shipping, receiving, warehousing) experience.
  • Manufacturing Experience
  • Lean Manufacturing Knowledge and Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
