The Walt Disney Company Sr Accounting Associate Tax and Compliance in Celebration, Florida

About the Role & Team

The Disney Financial Services Purchase-to-Pay organization provides global support to our business segment partners and suppliers across The Walt Disney Company related to Purchasing, Disbursements, Controls / Compliance and Cash Management Optimization.

What You Will Do

  • Tax Compliance and Withholding: Responsible for ensuring compliance with IRS regulations, specifically related to 945, 1099, 1042 and States NRA requirements This often involves determining the correct withholding rates and applying them to various transactions.

  • Reporting and Documentation: The analyst must help prepare and file the required tax documents, such as Forms 1042, 1042-S, 1099 etc. with the IRS. They need to ensure accurate reporting of income paid to non-U.S. individuals and entities, and the taxes withheld from these payments.

  • Cross-functional Coordination : This role often requires coordination with other departments like finance, legal, and human resources to gather necessary information and ensure compliance across the organization.

  • Research and Advisory: They are expected to stay updated with changes in U.S tax laws and regulations, advising the organization on implications and necessary adjustments in processes.

  • Operational Improvement: The analyst may also be involved in improving and streamlining withholding and reporting processes, implementing best practices to ensure efficiency and compliance.

  • Audit Support: They often assist in internal and external audits related to international taxation, providing necessary documentation and explanations.

  • Stakeholder Communication: Communication with internal and external partners, including explaining complex tax issues in understandable terms, is an important aspect of this role.

This position requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a good understanding of international tax laws and regulations. Proficiency in tax software and strong interpersonal skills are also essential.

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Experience: Prior experience in tax, accounting, or a related field, with specific experience in tax reporting and withholding being highly valuable.

  • Knowledge of Tax Laws: Knowledge of relevant tax laws and regulations.

  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to deal with complex tax issues.

  • Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy and attention to detail.

  • Interpersonal Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for explaining tax concepts and requirements to individuals from non-tax backgrounds.

  • Organizational Skills: Ability to lead multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment including reconciliation of tax withholding general ledgers accounts and tax filings.

  • Technology Proficiency: Familiarity with tax software and general financial systems. In addition to advance excel skills.

Education

  • A bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is typically required. Advanced degrees in business, accounting or tax may be preferred.
