Position Summary

The College of Engineering Undergraduate Studies department is seeking a highly motivated, student-centered Specialist-Advisor. The position will work with the new Technology Engineering program and will be a blend of academic and career advising. Job duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Serve as academic advisor for Technology Engineering students including assist with selection of courses, aid in course planning, and resource referral.

  • Assist with the development and implementation of activities and projects related to student career success.

  • Identify potential employers, jobs, and experiential education opportunities.

  • Engage with prospective students and families through college programs and orientation.

  • Engage regularly with faculty and staff in the College of Engineering.

  • Other duties may be assigned.

This is a fixed-term specialist position at 100% time in the College. The initial appointment for this position will be for three years with renewal contingent upon positive annual performance reviews and mutual agreement.

This position is designated as remote-friendly, which means some of the duties may be performed remotely as mutually agreed upon between the supervisor and the successful candidate. The exact schedule will be determined by the supervisor and the successful candidate.

Minimum Requirements

  • Master’s degree must be conferred by start date

  • Excellent communication (both oral and written), interpersonal, and organizational skills are required.

  • Demonstrated capability to build connections and rapport in diverse settings, encompassing ethnic, racial, cultural, and gender variations, is essential.

  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office suite is expected.

Desired Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in student affairs, higher education, counseling, or related field is preferred.

  • Interest in working with student transitions is desirable.

  • Experience with engineering professionals or engineering students in preferred.
