Transportation Research Center, Inc. Engineer Technician III- Dummy Lab in East Liberty, Ohio

Purpose The biomechanics group is seeking an engineering technician for the crash test dummy laboratory. In addition to maintaining, preparing, and qualifying dummies for testing, this lab also assists in the development and evaluation of new crash test dummies and procedures. Engineering technicians provide technical support for engineers supporting in such areas as research programs, equipment design, test development, and testing. This engineering technician would be responsible for qualifying dummies for testing programs, assembly and repair, troubleshooting, and reporting. Essential Functions* Assemble, repair, and troubleshoot crash test dummies Prepare and conduct ATD pre-crash qualification tests Calibrate and repair instrumentation Assemble or install equipment or parts requiring simple wiring, soldering, or connecting Document properly organized and inspected test documentation/activity reporting Ensure calibration records are organized and stored properly Set up, monitor, operate, and maintain test equipment Provide technical support to project teams Work collaboratively with other technicians to meet laboratory objectives TRC Inc. is an equal employment opportunity employer and is willing to make a change or adjustment to a job or work environment that allows a qualified individual with a disability to satisfactorily perform the essential functions of a particular job. *Nothing in this job description restricts management's right to assign or reassign duties and responsibilities to this job at any time. Other Duties and Responsibilities (Non-Essential Functions) Conduct a variety of tests, prepares test specimens, adjusts and operates equipment, and records test data Extract engineering data from various prescribed but non-standardized sources; processes and presents data Assist in presentation and report preparation Assist in the development of proposals and plans for research programs Coordinate project schedule changes and scope of work with project teams Control and monitor cost, progress, and quality of assigned projects Follow safety procedures; wear protective equipment including safety glasses and steel-toed shoes Support TRC Inc.'s Quality and EH&S (Environmental, Health, and Safety) efforts Qualifications High school diploma is required Associate's degree in a technology discipline is preferred 5 years related experience preferred Valid driver's license Excellent communication skills Proficient computer skills Practical knowledge and experience of electronics applications Practical knowledge of physics and engineering Proficient in the use of test equipment and/or tools and machinery Basic scripting knowledge preferred (VBscript) Working conditions Standard office, climate controlled environment May be exposed to temperatures below 0 degree and above 95 degrees May be exposed to inclement weather May be exposed to hazardous chemicals, such as gas, oil, and paint Physical requirements Ability to move objects weighing up to 50 pounds Must be able to remain in a stationary position for an extended period of time Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment Ability to communicate with customers and co-workers Capable of positioning one's self into bending, stretching, climbing, or awkward positions It is the policy of TRC Inc. to provide equal opportunity in all areas of employment practices, without regard to race, color, caste, religion, religious creed (including religious dress and grooming practices), national origin, ancestry, citizenship, physical or mental disability, medical condition (including cancer and genetic conditions), genetic information, marital status, sex (inclu
