Location/Division Specific Information

Location: Fair Lawn, NJ

Group/Division: Life Sciences Solutions Group in the Laboratory Chemicals Division (LCD)

Hours: 7:45am - 4:05pm

Pay Rate: $34.05/hr

Sign on Bonus – $1000

Discover Impactful Work:

This role is based out of Fair Lawn, NJ and is part of our Life Sciences Solutions Group in the Laboratory Chemicals Division (LCD). As the Maintenace Mechanic II you will be supporting the maintenance needs of the manufacturing line equipment and the facility. This role will focus on providing maintenance to the chemical production lines and keeping the pumps operating for our safe and effective production.

A day in the Life:

  • Knowledge and capability to perform Piping including skills such as: laying out piping runs, specifying materials and assembling piping systems.

  • Performs equipment operation and maintenance. Relevant equipment includes, but is not limited to: boilers, air compressors, cooling towers, pumps, filters, HVAC equipment, and blowers. Employees should have a familiarity with fire suppression systems.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of procedures and methods used in industrial electrical problem solving. Ability to properly construct electrical systems.

  • Ability to work unsupervised for preventive and corrective maintenance in any area of proficiency

  • Proven ability to prepare a Safety Work Permit

  • Ability to learn and understand plant electrical systems. This includes the ability to follow the Single Line Diagram, identify the power source for various pieces of equipment and safely isolate power when necessary for maintenance or repair activities

  • With assistance, works from drawings/blueprints to plan and lay out work

  • Reviews drawings for projects and upgrades

  • Works proactively to prevent equipment failure

  • Works independently to repair equipment even before basic problems are reported.

  • Will perform other duties as assigned.

Keys to Success:

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent required

  • Certificate from recognized trade school preferred

Experience

  • Experience with the assembly, adjustment and maintenance of packaging equipment. Some examples of packaging equipment include: container fillers, cappers, conveyors, weighing systems, and pallet handling and wrapping systems.

  • Experience in maintenance of manufacturing equipment industry, Chemical Manufacturing preferred

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Obtain a Black Seal License within one (1) year of hire or have one currently

  • Certified to operate Forklifts

  • Ability to solve and recommend corrective action on one or more plant systems. This proficiency needs to be demonstrated on documented maintenance or repair activities.

  • Welding skills are preferred but not required.

  • Experience working with steam pumps or steam related equipment
