Job Description

The Quality Assurance Technician is responsible for reviewing product and comparing it to standards. This position will work closely with the Production department in regards to conformity of product.

In our Hagerstown Plant, we produce commercial roofing products. This Technician will work rotating shifts to accommodate the production line.

WHEN YOU JOIN US YOU WILL BE :

  • Responsible for validation activities, improvement sources and project implementation

  • Performs quality measurement and inspection of product, including certification of product that complies to the highest standard

  • Collection and recording of QA data collected in the appropriate software program. Reports will be generated from this database and brought to the weekly production meeting

  • Manage equipment, process, and procedure change and coordinate the completion of validation activities as required.

  • Evaluate systems and processes to seek out improvement

  • Investigation of production issues through data search as required

  • Responsible for ensuring appropriate and mandatory testing is carried out on all products including physical property (gauge and durometer), adhesion, rheometer and any additional testing

  • Print and review rheology results and record actual parameters for trends, examining for the state of process control

  • Review product non-conformances for hold material. Determine the cause(s) and the elements leading to product failure.

  • Inspection of incoming raw materials. This includes reviewing documents and C of A’s for accuracy and labeling containers with appropriate markings.

  • Coordinate and maintain raw material SDS books. This includes reviewing new or updated SDSs and distributing to books and electronic folders

Qualifications:

  • Minimum High School education or equivalent – Required

  • Minimum of three years quality experience in a manufacturing plant setting – Preferred

  • Fork Lift license and certification – Preferred

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Experience showing initiative to identify and resolve problems

  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), safety and values focused

  • Leading by example with safety and safe work habits

  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds minimum at a time

  • Combination of prolonged periods working on feet or sitting at desk, using tools, and performing repetitive actions that entail frequent bending and stooping

  • Good hand dexterity

  • Visual acuity to read instructions, operate machines, and inspect parts produced

  • Understand units of measure in standard, metric, PSI and temperature

  • Comprehend information and ideas presented verbally or in writing

  • Use effective time management to ensure that tasks and projects are completed within agreed time limits
