POSITION PURPOSE

As a Grain Accountant, you will work in a fast-paced team environment, interacting with location employees and our grain customers. Main responsibilities are accounting focused, including preparation of grain documents, issuing payments and control and monitoring activities, as well as other relates duties. This position supports the commodity manager with crop activity and commodity payments by providing oversight for the commodity payment process and ensuring all commodity activity is properly recorded. This position will also provide finance support to the operations team.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES

Financial Analysis, Reporting, and Customer Service

• Completes and reviews daily grain accounting duties including: preparation of commodity position validation and analysis, ensuring all risk positions are being reported and monitored.
• Partner with commodity manager on customer inquiries related to commodity contracts and payments. Enters, organizes and manages commodity purchase contracts and customer liens.
• Perform customer account management and reconciliation for Customer and General Ledger. Assist with monthly reconciliation of balance sheet accounts
• Monthly commodity reporting. Prepare government and industry reports as assigned.
• Assists in projects as assigned

Job Complexity:

• Ability to interpret financial data and present results to management in a clear and concise format.
• Must be able to investigate variances that arise from financial activity, determine causes and resolve discrepancies.
• Ensure accuracy of financial reporting and analysis and work with local Management over inclusiveness results.
• Analytical/Design - Have deductive reasoning skills to evaluate accounting/finance outcomes back to system process.

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:

• Minimum education required 2-year degree in Business or Accounting

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE and EXPERIENCE:

• 2+ years finance, accounting, customer service or related work experience
• Demonstrated high levels of interpersonal communication, written and verbal communication and documentation skills.

SKILLS/ABILITIES:

• Ability to multitask, prioritize work flow and complete tasks with a high level of organization, responsibility and efficiency.
• Advanced problem-solving skills
• Proven ability to adapt in a faced paced, changing environment.
• Demonstratestrongproblem-solvingandresolutionskills.MSWord, MS Excel, MS Outlook required
• Microsoft Dynamics GP experience preferred
• Production agriculture and grain merchandising knowledge preferred
• Valid Driver's License required
