DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As an Accountant 2, you will provide supervision to an accounting section in the Bureau of Business Taxpayer's Accounting division and prepare weekly production reports pertaining to the supervised section.  You will also review and analyze new and current tax laws, proposed legislation, and amendments for compliance and interpret revenue rules and regulations as they relate to improvements to existing systems.  This position serves as a liaison between other bureaus and divisions to resolve accounting systems issues.  You will also have the opportunity to plan and coordinate training for employees within the division.  We are looking for someone who possesses excellent leadership qualities and who will commit to treating others equitably and inclusively.

Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time employment Work hours are 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch. Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) full-time, however you will be required to report to the office at least one day per month.  In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection.  If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: One year as an Accountant 1;or Two years of professional accounting experience, and graduation from a four-year college or university, including or supplemented by fifteen credits in accounting. Four years of bookkeeping experience and fifteen college credits in accounting may be substituted for college graduation.  A Master's degree in accounting or a related field may be substituted for one year of general work experience.

Hiring preference for this vacancy may be given to candidates who live within Adams, Cumberland, Dauphin, Franklin, Juniata, Lancaster, Lebanon, Perry, York counties.  If no eligible candidates who live within these counties apply for this position, candidates who reside in other counties may be considered. You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements: This position will have access to Federal Tax Information (FTI) and is subject to the provisions of IRS Publication 1075 (Pub 1075) which requires you to pass an enhanced background check prior to beginning employment.  Under Pub 1075, acceptance of a conditional offer of employment will require submission to and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to: a fingerprint-based federal records check; a PA State Police clearance; a check of local law enforcement agencies where you have lived, worked, and/or attended school within the last five (5) years; and a citizenship/residency verification.
