JOB DESCRIPTION:

Position Summary:

The Knorr Production Systems (KPS) Industrial Engineer is responsibleformanaging business improvement projects as a dynamic change agent using engineering and lean tools to deliver breakthrough levels of improvement in operational costs, quality, performance and safety. Will train and facilitate activities in manufacturing, non-manufacturing and administrative work areas. Also, will help to sustain, improve OEE System. Major responsibilities include:

Essential Functions:

  • Execute and apply KPS strategy, tools and techniques in the implementation of manufacturing excellence initiatives.
  • Plan, execute and manage projects to complete through product continuous improvement.
  • Lead value stream mapping exercises to determine and record business improvement areas.
  • Manage a portfolio of lean projects directed at reducing waste and improving quality to provide greater valve; implements such tools as: 5S, KPI, SMED, VSM, and Kaizen.
  • Will be responsible for managing and leading continuous improvement projects, as well as mentoring and coaching Project leads as part of Cost Deployment strategy.
  • Prepare the layouts, detailed drawings, and other documentation to assist in improving the manufacturing processes.
  • Develop standard work standards and line balancing for productivity, and documenting routing times.
  • Identify and track manufacturing cost reductions by implementing Quick Kaizen, Standard, Major and Advanced Kaizens or other Lean initiatives.
  • Execute projects as needed.
  • Be a leader of change. This person must be comfortable working with all levels within the organization. They must be able to question the status quo and be a strong communicator.
  • Skilled in lean manufacturing methodologies:Kaizen, Kanban, 5S, TPM, SMED, Six Sigma, Standard work, Value Stream Mapping current and future state and Visual Controls
  • Train and lead cross-functional continuous improvement teams, focusing on measurable quality, service and cost improvements.
  • Trains, coaches and motivates personnel in the understanding and adoption of new principles and techniques.
  • Develop and sustain employees training and development on lean concepts.
  • Support or conduct trainings for KPS events to support organizational development through the understanding of concepts and practices of KPS.
  • Responsible for maintaining and improving Shopfloor Management.
  • Perform all those activities that by the nature of the position are required.

Management and Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Job is NOT directly responsible for managing other employees.

Knowledge:

  • Strong PC skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and Project Management.
  • Lean Tools

Experience:

  • 1-3 years Industrial Lean Manufacturing expertise having led continuous improvement projects and Kaizen events.

Skills:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required.
  • Ability to motivate teams of people and drive for results.
  • Effective problem solvers, conduct unbiased analysis, and identify hidden problems to achieve effective solutions.

  • Understanding of costing structure and quantitative analysis

Education/Certifications:

  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering or Operations Management
  • Greenbelt Certification preferred.
  • Strong lean manufacturing expertise
  • Proven track record in leading high-performance teams and attaining results; able to quantify results.
