Lilly Director - Data Science and Analytics in Indianapolis, Indiana

The Bioproduct Research and Development organization strives to deliver creative medicines to patients through the development and commercialization of insulins, monoclonal antibodies, novel therapeutic proteins, peptides, oligonucleotide therapies and gene therapy systems. This organization is a multidisciplinary group that works collaboratively with our discovery and manufacturing colleagues.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead a data science and analytics team within Bioproduct R&D (BR&D).

  • Develop BR&D’s digital transformation strategy and road map.

  • Build the data architecture, drive implementation of data science solutions to streamline, integrate, automate technical workflows and business processes, and accelerate decision making in a regulated pharmaceutical environment.

  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders & partners to lead, inform, gain alignment, unlock & resolve complex business challenges, continuously evaluate cutting edge data engineering solutions.

  • Ensure the security, integrity, and compliance of data according to regulatory standards and guidance.

Minimum Requirements:

  • B.S or MS in Data Sciences/Informatics/Computer Sciences or related field with 8+ years’ direct working experience in data science and digital transformation; OR PhD. with 4+ years of experience in data science and digital transformation.

Additional Skills/Preferences:

  • Proven track record of developing data architecture and implementing broad data science solutions leveraging data analytics, process automation and informatics to simplify and accelerate data capture, curation, orchestration and laboratory workflows.

  • Strong ability to collaborate with multifunctional personnel across diverse disciplines and business areas to understand customers’ need, to translate into user requirements, and to develop and implement data science solutions.

  • Experience with implementing, qualifying and validating data science solutions to comply with relevant industry and regulatory standards and guidance.

  • Demonstrated experience with solutions and tools involving multi-cloud storage, cloud computing, data curation/orchestration, analytics workbench platforms, edge computing and data capture from diverse internal/external sources, integrated workflow and advanced process automation.

  • Demonstrated leadership outside of their core responsibilities in industry and/or regulated forums. This could include membership in external consortia and/or equivalent demonstratable external connections that can help ensure both innovation and appropriate alignment with external trends. Candidate should be able to demonstrate bringing external ideas and discussions to enhance or accelerate internal data solutions.

  • Demonstrated supervisory experience and ability to lead teams of highly skilled and capable multidisciplinary scientists.

  • Effectively participate in a team environment and carry out independent and complex project assignments with minimum supervision.

  • Understanding of working in GxP or non-GxP environments

  • Excellent problem solving and decision making.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
