The shop helper is a non-exempt (hourly) position that reports to the Finishing Team Leader. It is an entry level position with the opportunity to learn new skills and make more money. This is the perfect position for a motivated person with a good attitude who is results oriented, quality conscious, and reliable.Responsibilities: To achieve throughput and quality goals by effectively using documentation, equipment, and labor. The shop helper executes a daily production plan created by the supervisor based on the master open order schedule. It involves reading and following the documents that describe the operations required, while assuring that all the parts comply with the quality standards. It should be noted that employees are given responsibility to read process documents and interpret whether all required operations have been performed per the defined process prior to performing their operation. •Process parts according to company quality standards• Report suggestions for improvements back to Foreman or Department Leader.•Operation of hand operated random orbital sanding machine(s). •Operation of Routing Machines and Router Table. •Operation of Wet-blasting Machine. •Report suggestions for improvements back to Sanding Supervisor, Shop Foreman, or Management including processing methods, sequences, and equipment recommendations.•Keep summary log of daily production on worksheet. All employees are required to be aware of and record labor input and materials consumed required to perform job function. The reasonable production expectancy for a Sander should meet or exceed the minimum standard of 6 parts/hour.•Comply with safety programs and standards.•Utilize process documents for all jobs moving through department, as necessary.Qualifications:1-2 years of experience with small hand or power tools preferred.Physically able and willing to stand for 75% of shift to complete assigned tasks.Physical Requirements This work requires the following physical activities: climbing, bending, stooping, kneeling, twisting, reaching, sitting, standing, walking, lifting, finger dexterity, grasping, repetitive motions, talking, hearing, and visual acuity.
