Job Description

The purpose of this position is to perform more complex accounting activities, implement solutions related to strategic initiatives, and serve as point of contact for Operations Accounting leadership related to departmental procedures, processes, and projects.

In this role you will:

  1. Perform full cycle accounting activities for Parts and Service Solutions, a subsidiary of Pilot company, including but not limited to the preparation, maintenance, and reconciliation of ledger accounts, journal entry preparation,

  2. Create and maintain balance sheet account reconciliations including SOX compliant process and review documentation

  3. Customer account payment application and accounts receivable aging analysis

  4. Month end activities including journal entry and report preparation

  5. Contribute to the development of new or amended accounting systems, programs, and procedures for PSS and Operations Accounting

  6. Design, plan and implement departmental standards and accounting procedures for SOX program. Monitor internal control processes of Operations Accounting teams to drive accountability and ensure compliance

  7. Review and approve monthly reconciliation of GL accounts in accordance with established polies and procedures. Research variances and ensure that all reconciling items are researched and resolved timely

  8. Perform other accounting duties and support other team members as required or assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting required

  • Minimum four years of experience in accounting

  • Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills

  • Familiarity with Lawson/S3 or general ledger (GL) accounting software preferred

  • Knowledge and understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills

  • Strong teamwork, problem solving, conflict management, influencing, and negotiation skills

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills including the ability to communicate financial principles and practices with non-finance team members

  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and exercise independent judgement
