This role contributes to Starbucks success by supporting the UK Leadership Team with prioritising and managing the delivery of strategic projects in the UK business, key to ensuring the execution of the UK business strategy.

The Strategic Portfolio Manager is responsible for ensuring all functional projects and strategic projects are planned for effectively, ensuring cross functional teams are engaged and aligned to deliver projects to an agreed timeline, scope, and budget. The role will also be responsible for ensuring that all UK projects are prioritised, based on the company’s available resources, in line with the overall business strategy. The Strategic Portfolio Manager will then support the business to effectively execute the prioritised projects, deploying project management tools and techniques as appropriate.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and lead the overall strategic project delivery including end-to-end execution of the priority projects for the UK, while working to ensure project prioritisation, business requirements and business cases consideration.

  • Design and embed new cross functional ways of working, including newly defined accountabilities and responsibilities, including the structure and repeatable processes for project execution.

  • Maintain the overall UK project plan, ensuring alignment with all functions and stakeholders.

  • Help shape and bring to life governance framework and functional vision that lends itself to accelerated and successful project delivery.

  • Manage the senior stakeholder community through disciplined programme reporting and updates, 121 engagements to overcome challenges, and collaborative efforts with their teams.

  • Own financial tracking and cost management within project delivery, and benefits measurement & tracking mechanisms post-project implementation, are critical to delivering the financial benefits / AOP targets in the UK strategic plan.

  • Identify creative solutions to any obstacles or blockers that could compromise the successful execution of strategic projects.

  • Manage a team of project managers to deliver the projects in the strategic portfolio.

  • Project Management skills; agile and waterfall methodologies; ideally with formal certification

  • Managing cross-functional project teams to achieve delivery goals

  • Senior stakeholder management, ideally exposure to business leadership

  • Financial management of projects

  • Polished presentation skills including content development

  • Ideally, experience within fast paced business environment such as retail
