Group Summary

About the Role

Reporting to the Plant Controller, the Jr. Plant Accountant is responsible for ensuring the quality and availability of financial information, ensuring appropriate controls are in place and adhering to accepted accounting principles.

Your Responsibilities

  • Ensuring the quality and availability of financial information, including the analysis and reporting of various balance sheet and income statement accounts.

  • Daily tasks including invoice matching, costing updates, inventory management & support.

  • Evaluate and maintain accuracy of general ledger.

  • Reconcile accounts within required timeframe and prepare all monthly bank reports.

  • Record, backup and maintain audit readiness, including maintaining and supporting signoffs and meeting Magna standards.

  • Create, analyze & maintain variance analysis spreadsheets and reports.

  • Assist managers and supervisors to manage budgets and activities.

  • Prepare and maintain accounting files (Sharepoint, SAP, Excel etc.) and ensure accuracy.

  • Assist in quarterly forecast and annual budget processes.

  • Detailed variance analysis to support business performance and identifying areas of improvement as required by Qualtech and Magna International Inc.

  • Month-end journal entries and account reconciliations.

  • Responsible for maintaining safe working conditions and following all safety rules at QSS.

  • Follows all Plant Standards and ensures compliance to the QSS employee handbook along with all QSS policies and procedures.

  • Ensure that all finance departmental work activities are aligned to the Magna Employee Charter.

  • Responsible for maintaining Sarbanes Oxley procedures, Magna Financial procedures, quality procedures and instructions within the department.

  • Responsible for monthly government remittances, payment applications, maintaining costs in SAP, bank reconciliation, financial reporting & account reconciliations.

  • Perform special projects in support of the organization's business objectives.

  • Other projects and duties as assigned.

Who we are looking for

Your preferred qualifications

  • A University degree or College diploma in a related field with a minimum of two years financial experience in an automotive Tier 1 manufacturing environment or the equivalent combination of education and work experience.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Experience with computerized accounting systems and strong MS Office/PC skills.

  • Strong excel skills including lookups, tables, Macros, Power BI, etc.

  • SAP experience preferred.

  • Working towards CPA designation preferred.
