Barnes Group Inc Assistant, Warehouse - Lead in Maumee, Ohio

Description An exciting opportunity exists at Barnes for a Warehouse Team Leader in its Force and Motion Control SBU, Maumee, OH. The ideal candidate will be responsible for an assigned portion of the warehouse, including distribution activities and production of mechanical struts and nitrogen gas springs, personnel supervision, maintenance of facility/equipment and environmental and safety requirements. This individual will also play a critical role in training associates. Core Responsibilities: Ability to perform duties of an Assembly, Stock, Shipping, Pick/Pack and Receiving Clerk, plus the following additional duties Responsible for managing the internal logistics of inbound and outbound shipments. Receiving and processing customer orders and distribution requirements. Identifying the need for standardized work and ensuring it is clearly defined and followed. Responsible for timely re-stocking of orders and receipts from suppliers. Recommend alternate solutions to improve quality and operational efficiencies. Coordinate daily production and scheduling of resources. Responsible for training new and existing employees, and updating the training matrix. Timely handling of returned goods and customer issues. Scheduling and efficient use of production and warehouse personnel to maintain efficiency. Effective layout, cleanliness and smooth operation of warehouse. Sign and maintain deviations, scrap authorizations, and the gauge calibration log book Maintains work flow by monitoring process / control plans, making corrections when necessary in effort to improve flow and reduce costs. Interface with other departments to address quality and process issues. Maintains safe and clean work environment by educating and directing personnel on the use of all control points equipment and resources; maintaining compliance with established policies and procedures. Serve as a resource for warehouse personnel on problem resolution, process questions, etc. Develop and maintain relevant metrics and key performance indicators in continuous improvement efforts. Understand and ensure customer specific requirements, as related to your function, are met. Backfill other positions as coverage is needed. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor. Ensure inventory accuracy through lot control and process improvements. Identify process improvements and carry out plans and actions where necessary. BES/Continuous improvement activities Other related duties and projects as assigned. Acts in alignment with the Barnes Code of Business Ethics and Conduct Qualifications: Minimum 3 years' experience with progressive warehouse and/or manufacturing responsibilities. Minimum 3 years' experience leading a team preferred. Experience working in an ERP system required. Experience working with Microsoft Office Applications (Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.) required Must effectively communicate in English both in verbal and written format Knowledge of or experience with continuous improvement activities and/or Lean Manufacturing. Knowledge of or experience with 5S, inventory control systems, Kan Ban systems and ISO/TS16949 a plus. Working knowledge of quality inspection.
