We work closely with owners, architects and the entire planning team well before ground is broken; providing cost analyses, scheduling information, and value engineering services to ensure that our client can make informed decisions leading to a timely finish of the highest quality and the best value.
Summary
This position will be responsible for managing the accounting and finance functions on assigned projects. The role also partners with Project Managers to ensure all jobs costs are captured and that billings are submitted accurately and on time.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Maintains accounting records in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) on assigned projects.
Creates and submits client owner billings according to contract terms and billing schedules.
Proactively collaborates with Project Managers to ensure accurate billing of projects.
Ensures all billing information and job costs are captured in accordance with contractual requirements.
Meets with Project managers regularly to facilitate billing communication.
Reviews and processes accounts payable invoices that are included in project cost for assigned projects.
Communicates consistently and effectively with subcontractors to reconcile pay applications with respect to original contract value, change orders, and pending change orders.
Manages contractual risks through synchronization of documents (i.e. certificates of insurance, lien waivers.)
Oversees project closeout reconciliation process.
Builds cohesive working relationships with all individuals on assigned project teams.
Utilizes organizational skills to accurately and timely respond to owner and architect requests for information.
Analyzes monthly project accounting metrics to explain the status of project financial position.
Collaborates with team members on process improvements and additional tasks as needed.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Bachelor’s Degree with an emphasis in Accounting, Finance, or related field or 1-3 years of relevant work experience
Ability to read, comprehend, and write instructions, correspondence, and memos.
Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees
Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
Ability to use time productively, maximize efficiency and meet challenging work goals
Ability to maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures
Ability to possess and maintain exceptional work ethic as well as uphold company values and demand the highest standard of conduct from self and others
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Working knowledge of GAAP
Relevant work experience in the construction industry
Experience with accounting software, including Viewpoint Vista and GCPay
Experience with Microsoft Office applications, including Office 365
