Job Title: Montpelier Transit Center Supervisor

Reports to: Director of Central Vermont Services

Effective Date: April 2024

Direct Reports: Station Service Representatives

FLSA: Non-Exempt

Description and Essential Functions

The Montpelier Transit Center Supervisor is responsible for the overall operation of the Montpelier Transit Center (MTC), working to make it a facility that serves riders, the general public, employees, and the organization. The incumbent will work as a Station Service Representative (SSR) when other SSRs are not available. Although the incumbent will be supported by off site managers to resolve more complicated matters, the incumbent will need to work independently to both resolve time-sensitive issues and guide long-term projects involving the center.

Supervision of Station Service Representatives

The incumbent will supervise the SSRs at the MTC. This will include scheduling, training, evaluating, coaching, providing input on hiring, and providing input on disciplinary matters. The incumbent will ensure that SSRs work professionally and respectfully with riders, the general public, and other employees.

Customer Service Support

The incumbent and the SSRs working on their behalf will assist customers accessing GMT services, including answering questions and resolving transit-related matters, which may occur in person, on the phone, and via email. This will include both transit matters pertaining to GMT and other providers, as applicable. Will manage lost and found items. The incumbent will ensure the MTC operates in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Title VI so that riders, the general public, and employees are free from discrimination. When there is conflict over ADA and Title VI procedures with riders, the general public, non-MTC employees, or external providers, the incumbent will notify the Director of Central Vermont Services for resolution.

Administrative Support to Rural Operations

The incumbent will coordinate with the Director of Central Vermont Services, Operations Manager, Demand Response Program Manager, and Director of Human Resources to perform basic administrative tasks in support of rural operations. The incumbent will ensure that when SSRs are not actively working to assist others that they perform appropriate tasks in support of the organization. The incumbent will work with the Director of Central Vermont Services and Operations Manager on data to collect on MTC activities. When there is conflict over administrative tasks, the incumbent will notify the Director of Central Vermont Services for resolution.

Security Response

The incumbent will work with the Director of Central Vermont Services and Operations Manager on station safety and security procedures, including preparing themselves and SSRs to respond safely to challenging riders and members of the public. When there is conflict regarding security procedures with riders, the general public, non-MTC staff, or external providers, the incumbent will notify the Operations Manager for resolution.

Emergency Response

The incumbent will ensure they and the SSRs are prepared to respond to emergency situations, including requesting emergency medical, fire, and police support. This will include establishing a working relationship with these providers in advance of emergencies to ensure there are no barriers to support when it is needed. The incumbent will also ensure customer, employee, and asset safety at the location in the event of a flood event. When there is conflict over expectations with emergency responder , the incumbent will notify the Director of Central Vermont Services for resolution.

Office Management

The incumbent will manage basic office systems at the location, including ordering supplies and assisting the GMT IT Coordinator in maintaining information systems used at the location.

Facility Management

The incumbent will work in coordination with the GMT Property Manager to ensure the facility is in good working order. This will include scheduling and arranging outside contractors to provide facility repairs, maintenance, and cleaning as directed by the GMT Property Manager.
