ALDI Inventory Lead Senior Accountant in Naperville, Illinois

To help save our customers green, we need an amazing team who knows all about it. Our National Finance & Administration Services department oversees the management of the critical resources and infrastructure that our people need to get the job done at every level. This service department is designed to make sure our retail divisions and executive leadership receive the support they need to run a successful operation. Within Finance our teams include: Accounting, Financial Planning & Analysis, Financial Reporting, Tax and Treasury.

Position Type: Full-Time

Work Location: Naperville, IL

This role is eligible to participate in ALDI’s Hybrid Work Program, which allows remote work up to 3 days per week (i.e., work remotely up to 3 days per week; work in-office at least 2 days per week).

Duties and Responsibilities:

Must be able to perform duties with or without reasonable accommodation.

• Approves all time-off requests for direct reports.

• Evaluates performance and achievement of expectations and desired results; resolves internal or external barriers that prohibit successful goal achievement.

• Establishes, communicates and evaluates job responsibilities and performance expectations to their direct reports to ensure mutual understanding and desired results.

• Identifies training and development opportunities that will assist their direct reports in achieving enhanced performance.

• Understands the overarching company strategy while communicating and modeling the core values of the organization to create a sense of teamwork and membership among employees.

• Advises management with recommendations on inventory accounting processes and various projects.

• Makes recommendations to leadership regarding implementation and rollouts of large-scale projects and performs other special projects as required.

• Provides input to their direct leader on hiring for positions reporting to them.

• Informs management of major team milestones, developments, and concerns.

• Leads or participates in projects in partnership with the business ensuring appropriate financial controls and inventory accounting practices are implemented.

• Maintains a thorough understanding of the Inventory Accounting processes.

• Identifies and recommends changes to procedures to improve efficiency and effectiveness.

• Maintains, manages and has complete understanding of the inventory accounting requirements within SAP S4 systems and applications.

• Leads and coordinates annual physical inventory processes, reporting and reconciliations with the stores and warehouses.

• Analyzes and evaluates monthly inventory and financial gross margin values to ensure timely and accurate financial results are reported.

• Assists their direct leader with all project management related responsibilities and effectively communicates status of projects to all participants.

• Ensures reporting compliance under applicable accounting standards.

• Supervises the day-to-day operations of their team, escalating issues to the appropriate level of support and/or leadership when necessary.

• Ensures direct reports complete assigned responsibilities in a timely and effective manner to provide the highest level of customer service for the business.

• Complies with ALDI privacy and security requirements and policies if job responsibilities include possible access to confidential and/or sensitive information.

• Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field required.

• A minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in Accounting, Finance required.

• Or, a combination of education and experience providing equivalent knowledge.

• CPA preferred.

Physical Requirements:

• Work may be performed in an office, remote office or a combination of both where a computer and office equipment may be used as needed to perform duties.

• Regularly required to sit, reach, grasp, stand and move from one area to another.

• Constantly and repeatedly use keyboard/mouse.

• Occasionally required to push, pull, bend, lift and move up to 25 lbs.

Travel:

• Domestic travel required.

• Up to 10%.
