Job Summary:

Vanderbilt is seeking an experienced Pediatric Audiologist for our Clinical Team Leader position. This role is associated with the further development of our large pediatric audiology clinic operations into a distinct division within the Hearing and Speech Sciences Patient Care Center (PCC). The primary function of the Clinical Team Leader (CTL) is to support, improve, and grow clinical operations within that division, while maintaining sensitivity to our academic and research missions along with institutional obligations. The division includes approximately 35 audiologists, technicians, and student workers across four locations with two additional sites coming online in the next few months. Clinical service lines include hearing aid amplification and diagnostics in both outpatient and inpatient settings. This division has oversight for newborn hearing, NICU, coordinated and sedated ABR. Our teams work closely with ENT, SLP, and other colleagues to ensure optimal care for every patient.

The successful applicant will lead a large team of assigned professional staff providers and actively participate with the division director and other PCC leaders in overall management of the division, development of clinical practice standards, and provision of patient-focused delivery of care and services with accountabilities for implementation and outcomes for people leadership, quality, service, compliance, finance, throughput, and scheduling. Ensure the division's optimal performance within their team of direct reports by engaging in effective problem solving and adjacent leaders from other PCCs where appropriate, and other departments, assuring performance standards for patient care are met, and developing/leading the assigned team. Provides feedback and coaching to staff members, recognizing them for their contributions while fostering a high-performance culture. The CTL position is primarily administrative with an expectation of 1 day per week (0.2 FTE) of direct patient care in one of our pediatric audiology clinics.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervises day to day performance of staff through ongoing assessment and coaching to achieve goals.

  • Completes formal evaluation of direct reports.

  • Supports leadership team in development of staff members by providing substantive feedback.

  • Demonstrates clinical/technical knowledge needed to coach staff on day-to-day activities.

  • Implements rehab specific policies and practice guidelines in accordance with VUMC policy and regulatory standards using standardized tools and instruments.

Qualifications:

  • Doctorate in Audiology (AuD) from an accredited program

  • Minimum of 5 years of relative experience, required

  • Valid TN state license as an audiologist or eligible to obtain, required

  • Certificate of Clinical Competency in Audiology (CCC-A) from the American Speech, Language and Hearing Association (ASHA), required

  • Clinician leader with recognition as a subject matter expert in at least one area of pediatric audiology, required

  • The CTL position is primarily administrative with expectation of 1 day per week of direct patient care in one of our pediatric audiology clinics, required
