Mitchell & Titus Senior Tax Accountant in New York, New York

The Senior Tax Accountant will: Contribute to client satisfaction by providing clients with quality, timely and responsive services and work products. Supervise the work of Staff professionals. Demonstrate an understanding of increasingly complex tax concepts. Discuss moderately complex tax issues with the engagement team and client management. Keep informed of current tax developments and effectively apply tax knowledge to client situations. Thoroughly and accurately analyze information. Prepare practical and effective approaches to the client's tax situation and arrive at appropriate conclusions. Share ideas with others. Participate in and contribute to achieving team goals. Assist in the development of recommendations and implementation plans and assist in making quality decisions in complex areas. Prepare multi-state individual, fiduciary, partnership, and corporate tax returns. Conduct independent tax research, prepare payroll and sales tax returns, prepare financial statements. Handle tax notices from the IRS and state taxing authorities through to resolution. Maintain client online and desktop QuickBooks files. Develop, train, motivate and mentor junior staff. The successful candidate will also interact with clients regularly to assess their needs and assist firm partners with planning effective strategies that answer those needs. Knowledge and skill requirements It's critical to have excellent communication skills, with a proven track record of working successfully with clients and co-workers. Must have a demonstrated ability to work independently, and as part of a team. Experience: Public accounting: 4 years (Required) Tax Preparation software: 4 years (Required) QuickBooks: 3 years (Required) Tax Preparation: 4 years (Required) Payroll and sales tax return: 1 year (Preferred) Financial statement preparation: 2 years (Preferred) Qualifications: An undergraduate or graduate degree in accounting or taxation with sufficient course work to achieve CPA certification upon passing the examination or possess a CPA license. At least 2 years of related tax experience within a public accounting firm in industries like financial services. Broad exposure to federal income taxation and some exposure to state and local tax Excellent project management skills Advanced written and verbal communication skills Integrity within a professional environment Candidate certified as an Enrolled Agent preferred but not required A minimum of 2 to 4 years of recent experience at a public accounting firm is preferred. Must have experience in professional tax preparation software, strong PC skills, be highly skilled in using Excel, accounting experience using Quickbooks online and desktop, and the ability to create high quality workpaper documentation. CCH Axcess, Thomson Reuters Go-System and CCH Engagement are preferred.Mitchell & Titus is an equal opportunity employer. Minimum Salary: 80,000.00 Maximum Salary: 90,000.00 Salary Unit: Yearly
