Maco Bag Corporation Lead Maintenance Technician in Newark, New York

Job Summary:

Provid technical support and leadership related to installation, troubleshooting, repair, maintainance, set-up and training on Flexible Packaging Mfg. Equipment. Summary of Essential Job Duties:

  • Lead Installation, repair, and maintain production manufacturing machinery and equipment.

  • Lead in resolving technical issues; Troubleshoot equipment problems, diagnose, and make necessary repairs/adjustments.

  • Implement escalation as needed.

  • Read and interpret equipment manuals; Ability to read and understand Production job sheets.

  • Provides training to production employees on key processes and procedures.

  • Perform all first piece qualification testing.

  • Maintain tooling and work with engineering to develop tooling and attachments.

  • Replaces faulty components such as motors, gearboxes, cartridge heaters, air cylinders.

  • Evaluate preventive maintenance effectiveness.

  • Start-up and shutdown of equipment in accordance with company safety procedures and OSHA Lock Out/Tag Out.

  • Support all aspects of CMMS.

  • Communicate and collaborate with department managers as needed; Prioritize and self-schedule work around production activities to achieve both production and maintenance goals.

  • Facilitate and champion of Safety Awareness.

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Experience in materials and manufacturing operations required; expereince in flexible packaging environment preferred.

  • Strong hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical, and industrial skills required. General understanding of electrical systems and ability to work safely with low voltage systems. PLC and electrical experience a plus.

  • Fully understand blueprints, specifications, manufacturing processes and procedures.

  • Ability to use/read various measuring devices such as rulers, tape measures, micrometers, & dial calipers

  • Proficient math skills

  • CMMS familiarity preferred; Intermediate computer skills and windows navigation

  • Strong communication, teamwork and problem solving skills required.

  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.

Educational/Experience Requirements:

  • High School diploma/GED, completion of craft apprenticeship, or equivalent education and experience.

  • Experience in a manufacturing environment is required.

  • Knowledge of basic properties of materials and principles of mechanical operation preferred.

  • 5 years of experience required, food processing and/or packaging a plus

  • Experience with ISO Standards preferred.

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to climb in overhead structures, work beneath machines and in close quarters.

  • High degree of attention and care

  • Regularly lift, bend, reach, twist and turn.

  • Ability to lift up to fifty (50) pounds.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand use hands to fingers, handle or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch: and talk and hear.

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. May involve prolonged periods of magnified inspection (eye strain)

  • Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand, and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp.

  • The job may involve prolonged periods of standing.

Work Environment:

  • This position works in a manufacturing environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

  • The employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, lubricants and fumes or airborne particles.

  • May work at different workstations as production needs require, or shifts from one station to another, during the production process.
