Job Summary

Production Control is responsible for managing and optimizing the production schedule, coordinating with various departments to ensure smooth operations, and maintaining inventory levels to meet customer demands. Responsibilities also entail processing and delivery/receiving of all incoming and outgoing hardware and freight

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Develop and maintain schedules based on sales forecasts, customer orders, and inventory levels.

  • Coordinate with production teams to ensure timely completion of manufacturing processes and adherence to schedule.

  • Analyze production data to identify bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and areas for improvement.

  • Ensure quality within job performance.

  • Report violations of safety or Company policy to Machine Shop Manager.

  • Transfer and track raw castings from foundry to machine shop in Manhattan.

  • Complete requisitions for supplies needed in the shipping department.

  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment.

  • Complete necessary shipping documents for shipments to customers or outside vendors, which includes purchase orders to outside vendors.

  • Ensure tensile bars are included with shipments to heat treating facilities.

  • Ensure Quality Department receives tensile bars from shipments received from heat treat facilities.

  • Ensure any special instructions, such as shipping tensile bars with castings, are adhered to.

  • Arrange transportation of product with freight companies, this may include inbound as well as outbound.

  • Receive incoming freight and submit documentation to office.

  • Communicate status of shipments to customer service.

  • Communicate with freight companies and their representatives to obtain best rates and service.

  • Communicate scheduling with outside service organizations

  • Track any lost freight

  • Report substandard performance of freight vendors or outside process vendors to Machine Shop Manager

  • Prepare weekly status report of past due items for machine shop

  • Ensure product has proper certification prior to shipping

  • Ensure proper certification documentation is included in shipments

  • Maintain inventory lists of both finished castings, machined product, and in process at outside service

  • Maintain inventory of customer supplied containers

  • Fork truck operation

Qualifications and Skills

Detail oriented with strong organizational and time management skills.

Education/Certification: High school diploma required
