The Village of Paw Paw is currently accepting applications for a full-time Mechanic. Applicants must have a valid Michigan Commercial Driver's License Class "A" with air brakes, a current DOT physical card, and successfully pass background screening, drug, and alcohol test. At a minimum the candidate must possess ASE and State of Michigan certification as an automobile and light truck mechanic and be able to obtain ASE and State of Michigan certification as a Master Truck Mechanic within 5 years.

The successful candidate must have a general knowledge and understanding of cars, pickup trucks, medium and heavy-duty dump trucks, and heavy equipment. Must be able to troubleshoot and repair, but not limited to the following: gas and diesel engines, transmissions, ABS hydraulic and air brake systems, computer-controlled systems, hydraulic load sense systems, 12- and 24-volt electrical systems, and must be able to track, conduct minor and major mechanical maintenance and repairs on the Village's fleet.

Candidates must be able to stand or sit for extended periods of time, lift up to 100 pounds, and withstand all types of weather, both extreme heat and cold. Overtime may be required, depending on weather and workload demands.

Salary range is $26.25 - $33.04 hourly.
