Mertz is looking for a CNC Machinist to join our team. A candidate in this position must be able to setup and operate a CNC mill and lathe with little to no supervision and must be able to read blueprints.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Operate horizontal and vertical CNC machines and lathes.
• Ability to make minor program changes if needed.
• Programming Experience is a plus.
• Read and understand engineering routing and process drawings.
• Use measuring instruments, including but not limited to calipers, micrometers, height gauges, depth gauges, etc.
• Ability to use mechanical equipment, such as pallet jacks, jib cranes, die grinders, belt sanders, files.
• Good working knowledge of math and minimal trigonometry.
• Follow complex written and verbal instructions.
• Read and comprehend drawings and shop routing.
• Frequent inspection of finished product to control quality through the machining process.
• Make tooling changes as needed to improve process.
• Keep immediate area clean and orderly.

Qualifications:

• Typically two to four years\' experience as a machinist. Equivalent combinations of education and experience that provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities will be evaluated on an individual basis.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time.
• Required to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when working on the manufacturing floor including, but not limited to, eye, ear, and foot protection.
• Lift/move up to 50 pounds.
• Walk up and down flights of stairs.
• Walk, reach with hands and arms overhead, above shoulder and horizontally.
