Shoals Technology Group Staff Accountant in Portland, Tennessee

Staff Accountant Portland, TN Function: The Staff Accountant is responsible for assisting with the preparation and analysis of financial reports. The Staff Accountant will support the senior accounting team with day-to-day accounting tasks and contribute to the overall accuracy and integrity of the company's financial records. Responsibilities: Assist in preparation of company financial statements by analyzing general ledger information and preparing balance sheet reconciliations. Support monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial closes within defined company closing schedules, including assigned journal entries, balance-sheet account reconciliations, and accruals. Assist in posting and coding of transactions in appropriate general ledger accounts. Reviewing accounting transactions to ensure accuracy of information, calculations, and prepare correcting journal entries. Maintain the fixed asset register, including recording new fixed asset acquisitions and retirements. Perform monthly depreciation calculations and prepare journal entries to record depreciation expense. Reconcile fixed asset accounts and resolve any discrepancies. Review capital expenditure requests for accuracy and compliance with accounting policies Investigate and resolve reconciling items. Ad-hoc reporting and special projects, as requested. Compose analyses for income statements and monthly balance sheets for management reporting. Provide support for internal and external audits. Ensure compliance with accounting policies and procedures and make recommendations for process improvements. Desired Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree (preferred) in accounting, finance, or related field At least two years’ experience in accounting or a related field Strong attention to detail and accuracy Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel Experience with accounting software preferred. Strong organizational and time management skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Strong communication and interpersonal skills Desired Location: This position is based in the Nashville, Tennessee area at the company headquarters in Portland, Tennessee (approximately 35 miles north of downtown Nashville).
