Under the authority of the Yard Supervisor, the Rom operator performs all duties related to receiving and shipping materials.

Responsibilities

• Must be flexible to load/off-load trucks as needed and/or pick orders as directed by the shipping supervisor

• Must be able to move material with forklift for yard production work cells when required or as directed by supervisor

• Must be able to operate a forklift and is forklift certified/licensed

• Must be able to complete shipping/receiving documentation accurately

• Communicates with CSR’s, Shipping Supervisor, Yard Supervisor and Operations

Qualifications

• Preferred - product knowledge of Aluma, Ulma and Harsco equipment

• Must have a forklift license

• Must be able to load/unload trucks and/or pick material when required

• Must have good written and oral French communication skills

• Preferred – Must be willing, flexible, and able to work after hours as needed based on truck traffic volumes and company/customer requirements and set up

• Bilingual (an asset) We require communication in English due to our multiple offices located outside Quebec.

• Ninety percent of the Rom Operator duties are performed outdoors. Since this is handling work, the Rom Operator must have excellent physical abilities and be able to adapt to temperature changes and bad weather. The Rom Operator must also be vigilant in performing their duties due to the small size of the yard and the proximity of other workers.

• The material handler must be able to handle all products either with cables, hoists, forklifts or by hand, according to the weight of the material which can vary from 0.5 pounds to 155 pounds.
