Eaton Corporation Manufacturing Engineering Technician- 1st Shift in Reno, Nevada

Eaton’s ES GEIS BLD division is currently seeking a Manufacturing Engineering Technician- 1st Shift.

Shift Hours: 6am - 2:30pm Monday - Friday.

The hourly rate for this position is $30.76 per hour.

What you’ll do:

Position Overview:

Eaton is looking for a Manufacturing Engineering Technician to support plant leadership in achieving business and financial goals by developing and maintaining robust manufacturing processes and participating in and/or leading continuous improvement / cost-out initiatives across the organization. Additional responsibilities include executing the organization’s strategic plan consistent with federal, state, and local regulations, established industry standards, and customer requirements

In this function, you will:

• Responsible for assisting the manufacturing engineers in all areas of responsibility with a primary focus on manual process checks, machining conformance to standards, and the maintenance and documentation of work instructions

• Provide technical support and instruction for group leaders and operators on proper assembly techniques

• Maintain routing and visual work instructions

• Assist in the investigation of root cause for non-conformities and implementation of corrective action

• Assists in developing and maintaining robust, cost-efficient manufacturing processes and product structures consistent with lean manufacturing practices.

• Implements methods and practices to reduce variation. Demonstrates ability to understand the source(s) of variation

• Promotes a culture of continuous improvement and understands lean manufacturing techniques as they apply to eliminate waste and deliver products to customer’s expectations.

• Identify and eliminate 8 lean wastes.

• Other various duties and responsibilities as may be assigned.

Qualifications:

Required (Basic) Qualifications:

• Associate degree or 2-year technical certification in manufacturing operations/skilled trades from an accredited institution or equivalent experience.

• Minimum of one (1) years experience in a manufacturing/operations or military environment.

• Minimum six (6) months experience in working with lean tools in a manufacturing environment.

• Must be able to work in the United States without corporate sponsorship now and in the future.

• No relocation benefit is being offered for this position. Only candidates within a 50-mile radius of Reno, NV will be considered. Active-Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation.

Preferred qualifications:

• Higher education degree in manufacturing operations, skilled trades, or engineering from an accredited institution.

• Three (3) years or more experience in a manufacturing/operations or military environment.

• One (1) year or more of experience in working with lean tools in a manufacturing environment

Skills:

Position Criteria:

• Ability to communicate effectively in written and verbal format in English.

• Good understanding of blueprints/schematics

• Good understanding of Microsoft Word & Excel

• Able to stand on feet continuously during working shifts.

• Able to regularly lift 35 pounds with or without accommodation. Occasionally lift more than 35 lbs. with assistance.

• Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment as required by company policy and procedure.

• Demonstrated experience and competency with Microsoft Office.

• Demonstrated experience with interpreting & applying blueprints/schematics.
