Job Title:  Fire Warden Location:  Duchesne County Job Description: We are in search of a highly motivated,highly skilled wildland fire professional! Duchesne County is a beautiful location with a fast growing population,a large amount of visitor activity and a substantial number of wildfire incidents. This position is a lead wildland fire official for non-federal lands within the county. This individual works closely with multiple municipal fire departments and interagency cooperators throughout the county within the framework of Utah's Cooperative Wildfire System (CWS) as well as coordinating fire responses with federal agencies. This individual is responsible for wildland fire suppression,wildland fire prevention,Wildland Urban Interface inspections,and hazardous fuels mitigation within the framework of CWS and other cooperative agreements. Principal Duties:

  • Communicate and coordinate at a high level with interagency fire cooperators from local,state,and federal agencies and stakeholders in support of CWS and interagency cooperative objectives.
  • Coordinate,implement and support wildland fire training to the standards of the National Wildfire Coordination Group (NWCG) with partners.
  • Evaluate,coordinate and implement hazardous fuels treatments on non-federal lands within Duchesne County.
  • Coordinate and implement wildland fire prevention efforts with partner agencies.
  • Conduct WUI Inspections on new building construction.

Ideal Candidate:

  • NWCG qualification as a Engine Boss and Incident Commander Type 4 or higher.
  • Excellent communication skills orally and in writing. 
  • Five years experience or more as a wildland fire professional. 
  • Team building skills. 
  • Skills as a Fire Service Instructor and/or public education experience. 
  • Experience with hazardous fuels mitigation projects,both planning and implementation.
