A Carter Lumber Inventory Control Specialist is responsible for maintaining an accurate inventory level at all locations for replenished products.This position identifies and optimizes common inventory items among all the locations and ensures physical inventories are planned, executed and reconciled between systems and counts. Effective communication with the field, internal departments and vendors is mandatory for the success of this position.       

Requirements

  • Previous experience with inventory management, in the building materials industry is a plus

  • Experience involving reconciling and replenishing physical inventories

  • Solid understanding in analyzing inventory activity and shrink trends

  • Must be a team player and interact with multiple departments throughout the corporation

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment

  • Exceptional written, verbal and presentation skills

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word and PowerPoint

Responsibilities

  • Inventory Maintenance

  • Monitors the daily cycle counting operations for counting, verifying, correcting and documenting the movement of all products into and out of the distribution center inventory

  • Reviews and ensures physical inventories are planned, executed and reconciled between systems and counts

  • Inventory Analysis

  • Develops dashboards and exception reporting to identify improvement opportunities and ensure efforts are successfully driven to improve projects upon completion

  • Prepares analysis of adjustments activities report

  • Analyzes and reports trends on inventory

  • Inventory Control Strategy 

  • Assists with further developing and implementing methods to maintain accurate inventory levels at all locations on replenished products

  • Assists with identifying and optimizing common inventory items amongst locations

  • Works closely with Senior Management and Field Management to ensure implementation of approved strategies
