Description We are seeking a Staff Accountant to join our team in Santa Barbara, California. The role involves supporting the finance department in a range of accounting and administrative duties, contributing to the smooth and efficient operations of the organization. The accountant will be responsible for reconciling bank, credit card, and GL accounts, processing accounts payable and receivable, and handling various administrative tasks.

Responsibilities:

• Daily entry of cash receipts

• Conduct weekly bank and investment account reconciliations

• Facilitate weekly processing of accounts payable, from GL coding to vendor account maintenance

• Manage monthly grant calculation and reporting

• Oversee monthly credit card and expense report processing

• Contribute to budget development, tracking, and reporting

• Maintain Fixed Assets and computer replacement schedule

• Assist with month-end close process

• Perform financial analysis and assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts

• Draft financial reports and maintain database/financial integration

• Oversee state charity registration compliance and serve as the primary contact for all matters related to the organization's facilities or leases

• Ensure multi-state payroll tax compliance, 401(k) reporting compliance, and employee benefits administration

• Prepare 1099 and other tax forms

Skills:

• Proficiency in GL accounting and reconciliation

• Experience with QuickBooks accounting software

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite including Excel

• Experience with database or CRM systems

• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

• Ability to work effectively in a team environment and independently

• Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines

• Ability to multitask, prioritize, and track progress against goals. Requirements • Demonstrated proficiency in Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR)

• Experience in managing Fixed Assets

• Proficiency in using QuickBooks accounting software

• Familiarity with Credit Card Reconciliation procedures

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• Ability to adhere to strict deadlines and handle multiple tasks

• Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)

• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in work

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel

• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) certification preferred.
