    JOB SUMMARY

    Each day, our team at POET Bioproducts markets and transports 20,000 tons of our high-quality products to our thousands of customers who are located all over the globe. As part of the POET Bioproducts credit team, you will play a major role in the success of these sales, focusing on two primary areas of responsibility. First, you, along with all members of the credit team, will be responsible for establishing appropriate lines of credit for our customers in accordance to the credit policy, working closely with our customers, bank partners, and POET merchandisers to provide creative and safe solutions for credit needs. Second, you will be responsible for setting up and monitoring lines of credit for customers as well as collection issues according to company policy, while maintaining good working relationships with our external and internal customers.

    DURING A TYPICAL DAY

  • Review and analyze credit applications to make recommendations for establishing appropriate lines of credit.

  • Conduct financial analysis including 3rd party report review (D&B, bank references, credit agencies).

  • Request bank and trade references from prospective customers.

  • Remain up to date on risk levels in potential importing countries.

  • Analyze and use data available to recommend payment plans with past due accounts to minimize bad debt risk and maximize accounts receivable collections.

  • Provide multiple credit/payment options to commercial team based on facts and circumstances of each transaction.

  • Ensure professional relationships are established and maintained with both internal and external customers.

  • Maintain banking relationships for establishing letters of credit or other financial institution backed credit terms.

  • Work closely with merchandising and transportation team members to respond to credit and collection concerns with existing and potential customers.

  • Develop and formulate specific collection objectives and achievement of those objectives.

  • Plan, evaluate, implement and continuously improve all aspects of credit & collection functions and processes.

    STRENGTHS OF A SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE

  • You have a Bachelor’s degree in a Business related field, or an Associate’s degree and 3+ years of credit or collections experience.

  • You communicate effectively. You write well. You speak articulately. You have the courage to voice your opinion even when you know others may not agree.

  • You have a strong capability to exercise discretion, initiative, and independent judgment in making sound decisions and in developing solutions to problems.

  • You have a customer service mindset and a desire to achieve.

  • You are able to be creative and enjoy finding solutions. You don’t get flustered when you encounter something new.

  • You’re a learner. You’re not afraid of new things and stretching yourself. You’re not afraid to ask questions and are always looking for ways to improve yourself and the organization we work in.

  • You know the basics of Microsoft Office Suite. You’re capable of learning new programs.
