DESCRIPTION OF WORK

An employee in this class performs a variety of welding duties involving welding, brazing, and metal ­cutting jobs on ferrous and non-ferrous metals. Cutting and welding will be conducted on machinery and equipment including iron fences and rails, water mains, highway bridges, truck and automobile bodies, steam and plumbing systems, pump and engine parts, filter equipment, trailer parts, dietary and laundry equipment, utility distribution equipment and systems, and similar equipment.  Work involves the exercise of independent judgement in determining work methods and procedures and may include lead work over helpers. Employees receive assignments orally and in written form from a foreman or other supervisor and work is checked in progress or upon completion.

*Work Schedule and Additional Information: *

  • Full-time employment.
  • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Shift is dependent on summer and winter operations.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

 

QUALIFICATIONS  Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Three years of experience in the operation and use of welding equipment, materials, and related shop equipment to repair, maintain, or fabricate parts, equipment, or structures; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

     

Special Requirement:

  • Possession of a valid PA non - commercial Class C driver's license or equivalent.

     

Additional Requirements: 

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

     

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Possession of an AWS D1.1 welding certification.
  • Possession of an AWS D1.5 welding certification.
