AdventHealth Student Education Manager in Tampa, Florida

GENERAL SUMMARY:

The Manager of Student Education collaborates with a variety of community universities, colleges, and high schools to be the advertise the Medical Education department and AdventHealth ambulatory services. Activities include managing and coordinating hiring events, medical students rotations, physician assistant (PA), Nurse Practitioner (NP) shadow rotations, Medical Assistant (MA) externship placement and shadowing for individuals desiring to continue their education in healthcare. Serves as liaison between the university, medical students, teaching physicians and administration. Coordinates all student activities including but not limited to: orientation, system access, scheduling, evaluation, lectures and test proctoring. This team member coordinates and engages preceptors within AHMG for medical student rotations. The Manager is able to provide metrics, data and performance improvement plans on a regular basis to leaders.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES :

· Coordinates and manages all activities and programs relating to medical professionals completing rotations, shadow experiences, internships, externships, and clerkships within AdventHealth Medical Group (AHMG).

· Assists with affiliation agreements for community schools and reviews contracts for affiliation needs on a regular basis.

· Collaborates with universities, medical schools, community colleges and high schools to market AdventHealth opportunities for shadowing, externships and medical rotations.

· Maintains an up-to-date inventory of rotation and externship sites and opportunities.

· Completes onboarding for medical students, PA, NP, MAs and other healthcare professionals as needed, including EHR training and ALN records.

· Assists the university in identifying local resources for subspecialty rotations that are not available at the practices for medical students.

· Coordinates communication, reporting and maintenance of records with the university

· Schedules student rotations and practice or hospital resources; resolves scheduling conflicts; verifies student attendance at rotations

· Distributes information about the practices, hospitals and communities to medical students who are selecting core sites and coordinates student visits to the practices

· Organizes and oversees new medical student orientation. Informs students of practice and policies and procedures

· Ensures all students and externs have appropriate learning and access to their AIT requirements.

· Manages scheduling of facilities and space required for student use

· Assures student evaluations are completed by medical student and MA externs

· Collaborates with medical university on annual survey report and assists with performance improvement strategies

· Recruits, maintain and assign medical student, PA, NP preceptors

· Coordinates with preceptors regarding their students’ rotations and needs

· Acquires and maintains current knowledge and competency in physician and provider professional development practice

· Compiles data on each medical professional category to understand trends

· Presents at leadership meeting regarding data and performance improvement planning

· Collaborates with community and internal departments to serve the student in their career growth

· Create educational and volunteer opportunities for the student to participate

· Cultivates and maintains beneficial relationships emphasizing enhanced collaboration between medical staff and support departments

· Will supervise the Coordinator or other staff members.

· Travel will occur at 25% of time.

Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

· Experience in a practice, hospital, or an education setting, managing programs in medical education or higher education

· Must have skills in interpersonal and human resources management

· Excellent oral and written communications

· Able to handle multiple priorities and manage numerous rotations and externs

· Must demonstrate initiative, resourcefulness, and problem-solving abilities

· Excellent communication skills both verbal and written

· Microsoft Office including PowerPoint, Word, Outlook and Excel

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS PREFERRED:

· 2 years of leadership experience preferred

· Excellent computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office programs

· Demonstrate an understanding of standard medical education procedures, laws and regulations

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

· Bachelor’s Degree, preferred in Healthcare or Medical Education

· 3 years’ experience in medical education support programs, or practice operations, or healthcare

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:

· Medical Education/Academic

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

· Reports to Assistant Vice President of Clinical Excellence. Directly supervises any Student Education team members i.e., Student Education Coordinator
