We have an exciting opportunity for a remote Azure BI Developer to join the Enterprise Data and Analytics team, within the Ferguson IT organization! The role will help to provide both enterprise-wide Data Lake and Data Warehouse expertise with emphasis on data design, access, usage, and quality of information. The BI Developer will work in support of all managers and users requiring data for all areas of the Business.

This role is approved to be fully remote and can be based anywhere in the United States.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop ETL jobs to move, transform and deliver data for end user consumption.

  • Leverage developer software tools to automate, improve, or change business processes and procedures.

  • Based on previous experience, provide input and best practice feedback for the software development life cycle methodologies, processes, and procedures.

  • Design and execute unit testing procedures.

  • Analyze existing code and make updates to improve performance.

  • Perform thorough code reviews, with a strong emphasis on structural issues, code maintainability and performance.

  • Provide estimates for development work and adhere to deadlines.

  • Stay up to date with current technology enhancements and suggest alternate solutions.

  • Ensures optimum service to all internal and external partners in response to all requests for service and information.

  • Works collaboratively with the team and reporting officials to resolve data discrepancies as requested by management.

  • Provide data modeling and data warehousing solutions.

  • Assists in implanting effective business analytics practices that drive improved decision making, efficiency and performance.

  • Communicates with nontechnical business users to determine specific business requirements for reports and business intelligence solutions.

  • Processes data extracts using data retrieval and management tools.

  • Design and build data models using SQL.

  • Translate business requirements into dimensional models.

  • Maintain and build upon the semantic layer and measure/attribute definitions.

  • Assists with all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Experience with building, deploying, and maintaining solutions in a cloud environment (AWS, Azure and Oracle).

  • Experience with Github or similar version control software.

  • Experience with automation scripting in both Windows and Linux environments.

  • Experience with Python and SQL.

  • Aptitude for analyzing data and business processes.

  • Understanding of REST web services and architecture technologies including Flask, Javascript, XML, and JSON.

  • Ability to build technical designs from functional requirements.

  • Experience building efficient and durable ETL/ELT pipelines.

  • Experience with big data technologies like Hadoop/HDFS, Hive and Spark.

Pay Range:

Actual pay rate may vary depending upon location. The estimated pay range for this position is below. The specific rate will depend on a candidate’s qualifications and prior experience.

$5,444.76 - $9,537.00

Estimated Ranges displayed are Monthly for Salaried roles OR Hourly for all other roles.

This role is Bonus or Incentive Plan eligible.
