Job Description

Under the direction of the Executive Director of Community Partnerships and Campus Visit Experience, the Director of Outreach is responsible for overseeing all P16 outreach efforts and grant-funded programs including, but not limited to: College Access Advising, Kinder-8th Grade outreach, and Parent Outreach and Engagement to promote post-secondary educational opportunities and Texas A&M-San Antonio. This position will work collaboratively with ASPIRE school districts, the Campus Visit Experience Team, Office of Admissions, and other external partners to further the University’s mission and provide resources and programming for our community.

This position will work a minimum of 40 hours per week and is an in-person/on-campus position. Some work hours will extend into the evenings and weekends. Must be willing to work evenings, weekends, and peak times. Some travel may be required.

This is a term limited position anticipated to start as soon as possible with an end date of up to one year from start date .

Responsibilities:

  • Create and implement an effective Kindergarten to 8th grade outreach plan that promotes a college-going culture within Bexar County and beyond, with specific attention and focus among the ISDs that are part of the ASPIRE network .

  • Continue and enhance existing Kindergarten to 8th grade outreach programs including, but not limited to ASPIRE Classroom of the Month, Challenge to ASPIRE Summer Camps, Mini Future Jaguar Day, K-8th Group Tours/Class Visits and more.

  • Oversee and lead the Parent Outreach and Engagement program, which includes managing the La Familia grant, leading support staff, and implementing parent outreach initiatives that will target specific parents and families within the ASPIRE network and surrounding community.

  • As part of leading the Parent Outreach and Engagement program, the Director of Outreach will manage the La Familia grant, which includes submitting a quarterly grant report to USAA (funder), developing a plan to meet key performance indicators, and managing the grant budget.

  • The position will also be responsible for working with the University’s Advancement office to help outline additional funding or grant opportunities to expand parent engagement/outreach initiatives.

  • Provide college access programming and outreach in collaboration with key partners and school districts including but not limited to managing shared staff and developing initiatives that build a college-going culture in target areas.

  • Collaborate with Assistant Director of Campus Visit Experience to build a visit experience for elementary and middle school groups.

  • Collaborate with other departments across campus including but not limited to the Office of Admissions, Office of Financial Aid, Family Engagement, Mays Center, and more.

  • Maintain and develop partnerships with existing and new organizations, leaders, and schools to create programming and outreach that align with the University’s mission.

  • Develop and oversee a yearly department budget that aligns with University mission and goals to further outreach efforts within ASPIRE and across the community.

  • Responsible for accurate and timely reporting for all grant-related projects and initiatives.

  • Responsible for setting departmental goals and objectives for team members that align with the University mission.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field

  • Ten years of related experience

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Masters degree in related field

  • Experience in grant management and development

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong leadership and management skills.

  • Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications. Interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Planning and organizational skills.

  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
