Radiology Film Librarian Location: Boston, MA Duration: 3 months Description: Position summary: Supervises film library staff and all day-to-day operations of file rooms at Client. Assists physicians, technologists and patients with the retrieval, filing and creation of copying images onto CDs/DVDs. Also responsible for processing all Life Image duties between Client and outside facilities. Essential responsibilities / duties: Ensures policies and procedures are in place to provide quality services. Supervises staff to ensure that day to day operations flow efficiently, without delaying patient care. Receives Life Image exams on portal and in person to process and upload into PACS for Radiologists and requesting providers to use for secondary reads or comparison imaging for proper patient care follow through according to established policies and procedures. Supervises RIS workflow to check that all comparison and secondary reads are being processed and read by Radiologist timely. Ensures policy, protocol and staffing is appropriate for all operational hours. Workload and demands of the file room must be performed professionally and attentively during all hours of operations within the Radiology Department. Implements and monitors program to improve the following: response and delivery time to clinical staff and patients for film/CD/DVD access; reports not read and/or completed. Integrates Film Library operations with departmental transcription, PACS, RIS and HIS functions. Ensures coverage of all shifts and if necessary, covers vacant shifts for continuity of services. Orientates new associates to the department and provides support with training of the Film Librarians; provides feedback of employee performance to the Manager of Support Services. Provides customer service to ensure both external and internal customers are provided with films/CDs/DVDs and interpretation as required. Utilizes hospital's Values as the basis for decision making and to facilitate the division's hospital mission. Follows established hospital infection control and safety procedures.   Job requirements Education: Work requires high school diploma or equivalent; associates degree preferred. Experience: Work requires at least one year radiology experience preferred. Knowledge and skills: Work requires leadership ability, sound decision-making and ability to motivate others Work requires good communication skills. Computer experience preferred.
