Howmet Aerospace DIP MANUFACTURER in Wichita Falls, Texas

Howmet Aerospace’s Wichita Falls, TX facility has an opening for Dip Manufacturer Operators.

Must be able to work rotating shifts. These Openings will be on a 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. shift

(Rotating shifts work 2 on 2 off, 3 on 2 off, 2 on 3 off) Pay rate starts at $24.36 an hour with benefits.

JOB SUMMARY:

Works independently under general supervision to manufacture all dip coat batches, binders, prewetting and experimental solutions by following written formulas; makes periodic checks and adjustments to dipcoats while following prescribed procedures and good general practices. Complex task required when checking slurry.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Using Computers (entering information, etc)

• Must be able to read and interpret Product Criteria (PC) and Activity Instructions (AI).

• Must be able to function as a member of a team and be able to work under general supervision.

• Must be able to maintain expected quality levels.

• Comply with all site required policies and procedures including but not limited to: EHS, Quality, Code of Conduct and the Wichita Falls Employee Handbook.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Performs dipcoat manufacturing by following basic processing setups; i.e., combines and mixes ingredients as indicated in written formula.

  2. Performs viscosity check and plate weight check of dipcoats on automatic line twice per shift, and makes necessary adjustments using independent judgment.

  3. Transports dip using mobile equipment and manually refills pots on automatic line. This task accounts for 50% of the job responsibilities during the shift.

  4. Periodically cleans dip pots and drains taps.

  5. May be required to perform duties of a Monoshell Operator as needed.

  6. Performs other duties as required.

  7. Read gram and pound scales, graduated breakers and bottles, and work with English and

    Metric units, fractions and/or decimals

  8. Complies with all EHS rules related to the work environment.

  9. Works Overtime when needed.

ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH AND SAFETY RESPONSIBILITES:

• Comply with all department, facility, corporate and regulatory EHS regulations

• Wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE). Requires wearing safety glasses, earplugs, gloves, hard hats and Metatarsal shoes. Requires wearing flame retardant uniform.

• Report all job-related illness and injuries (Per Employee Handbook).

• Report all safety, health and environmental concerns to your supervisor in a timely manner.

• Attend all EHS training.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/EQUIPMENT USED:

  1. Physical Demands:

Employee is required to execute the following:

• Push, pull and twist.

• Floor-to-waist lift and carry, lifting and carrying to the waist high level, carrying items with two hands.

• Gripping and pinching

• Be able to climb ladders and stairs

• Lifting up to 50 lbs. intermittently of various items.

• Good manual dexterity to operate computer equipment and precision measuring instruments.

• Position may require more than eight hours daily and more than five days weekly to complete work assignments.

• Squatting/crouching/bending when retrieving stored items from lower shelves and file cabinets, moving equipment / product inspections, etc.

• Standing approximately 90% of the time.

• Considerable physical effort required when mixing dipcoat.

• Clean work areas and maintain a clean work environment; perform 5S cleaning activities as required.

• Fall Control

• Hazardous Energy Sources (LTV)

• Machine Guarding

• Completed Training Folder

  1. Equipment Used:

• Robots

• Mobile equipment

• Pallet Jack

• Mobile Equipment-must maintain certification to operate Mobile Equipment.

  1. Work Environment:

• Slight exposure to chemicals, fumes, oil, dust, noise and heat or cold.

• Temperature and humidity-controlled environment/intermittent exposure to heat and kaowool dust.

• Exposure to moderate to heavy discomfort from dust and chemical fumes; required to wear respirator when manufacturing dip.

• Performs dipcoat manufacturing by following basic processing setups; i.e., combines and mixes ingredients as indicated in written formula.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

• High School Diploma or GED from an accredited institution.

• Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Experience working in a manufacturing environment

• Basic Computer skills

• Understanding of Statistics

• Basic knowledge of chemistry and Monoshell experience preferred
